Press Release Body = Indian Supreme Court admits Petition for more Guidelines for
Mobile Phones and electronic goods manufacturers

New Delhi June 2006: The Indian Supreme Court has admitted a public interest writ
petition filed by an NGO named KARMA JYOT SEVA TRUST OF GUJARAT highlighting the
hazardous effect of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiations emitted by cell phone
towers, microwave ovens, mobile phones, TV remotes etc. especially when India does
not have any law or regulation to monitor or control the same.

The petitioner NGO informed that electronic equipment manufactured and offered in
Indian market are not shielded against such radiations while in western countries
there are proper guidelines for the same.

Special bench headed by the chief justice Y.K.Sabharwal and Justices C.K. Thakker
and R.V. Raveendran admitted the petition and issued notices to union of India and
many ministries under it such as health and family welfare, Environment and forests,
telecommunications, IT & Science and Technology.

During the course of this case, if some guidelines are issued for such radiation
control from the communication towers, there will be new dimensions to quickly
growing telecommunication industry in India specially the mobile phone business.

In case of stringent laws introduced, the manufacturers of microwave ovens,
television sets, computers, cell phones and service will have to abide by the
certain laws at manufacturing or installation level.

Apart from new dimensions in the telecom and electronic goods industry, there will
be enormous business opportunity in the field of detecting and arresting such non
ionizing radiation while so far India has systems, services, processes and products
only to control ionizing radiations.
